Relaxed Family Portraits — Dogs Welcome
Studio Established 2008
Families in and around Rugby often tell us the same thing, life is busy, diaries fill up fast, and when you do decide to book something for your family, you want it done properly, not squeezed in or rushed. A lot of Rugby families say they are balancing work, school, and regular weekend commitments, so when they make time for a photoshoot, they want it to feel worthwhile and well planned.
Whether you’re juggling work commitments, school routines, or weekend sports, booking a family photoshoot is usually a considered decision. You’re not looking for a quick snapshot, you want an experience that feels organised, calm, and genuinely enjoyable for everyone involved. For many families locally, that means choosing a studio experience that feels predictable and relaxed, rather than busy or chaotic.
That’s exactly how our family photography sessions are designed. Our private studio in Lutterworth is an easy drive from Rugby, offering a quiet, relaxed space away from busy high streets and distractions. Everything is guided, unhurried, and centred around helping your family feel comfortable, so the photographs you choose become meaningful wall art you’ll enjoy in your home every day.
Once you book, we’ll talk you through everything before you arrive – what to wear, how to prepare, and what to expect. The studio is just outside Rugby in Lutterworth, with easy parking, so the day itself feels straightforward and unrushed.
Visited John recently with my partner and our two young daughters (5 & 2). Despite our daughters not wanting to sit still, he got great photos we’ll cherish forever.
Chris Brend
Your session is led by John at a child-friendly pace, with gentle direction throughout. There’s time for children to settle, space for breaks if needed, and a calm approach that works even when kids (or dogs) do their own thing. Nothing is stiff or forced.
The actual photo shoot was the most relaxed I have felt for a long time with my 2 children… He got us to enjoy time together and have a laugh.
Jermaine Thompson
A few days later, you’ll come back to the studio to see your images presented on the big screen. This is where you choose the photographs you genuinely love. With no pressure, no awkward sales talk, and clear guidance if you want it.
“I have gone back today to view the pictures I honestly found it very hard to pick. His work is amazing and its left me feeling emotional in a good way. His prices are reasonable and affordable.
Callum Barry
This is where your portraits become part of your home. From framed prints to statement wall art, we help you create finished pieces that suit your space. So your family photos are enjoyed every day, not forgotten on a phone.
We love our photos — there was so many great ones to choose from, John really captured our little pocket rockets…

Families from Rugby choose our studio because everything is built around making the experience feel easy not awkward, rushed, or stressful. You don’t need to know how to pose, you don’t need “perfect” children, and you don’t need to arrive feeling confident in front of the camera. Your session is fully guided, calm, and paced around real families, not unrealistic expectations.
Because the studio is appointment-only, you’ll have the space to yourselves. That privacy makes a huge difference: children settle more quickly, parents relax sooner, and genuine connection starts to show through naturally. Even if your kids are full of energy or your dog decides to do their own thing, the session never feels like it’s getting away from you.
Most importantly, this isn’t about taking photos for the sake of it. The focus is on creating portraits that actually belong in your home, images that look beautiful framed on your walls and make you smile every time you walk past them, rather than files that sit forgotten on a phone.

Hi, I’m John, the photographer behind John Jenkins Photography. I’ve been photographing families professionally for over 30 years, and I opened my dedicated Lutterworth studio in 2008 after a decade working as a wedding and portrait photographer. Since then, I’ve photographed thousands of families and dogs, which means I know how to keep sessions calm, flexible, and enjoyable, even when children (or pets) have minds of their own.
Family photography isn’t about getting everyone to sit perfectly still. It’s about knowing when to slow things down, when to add energy, and how to help people feel comfortable in front of the camera. Whether you have shy children, energetic toddlers, teenagers who’d rather be anywhere else, or a dog who doesn’t always listen, I adapt the session so it still feels relaxed and natural.
I specialise in family and dog portrait photography, creating honest, unforced images designed to be enjoyed as wall art in your home. Every session is private, fully guided, and photographed by me personally from start to finish, so the style you see on the website is exactly what you’ll receive.
I’m a member of the British Institute of Professional Photography (BIPP) and the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers (SWPP), professional organisations that uphold high standards of skill, ethics, and professionalism. Combined with over 140 five-star Google reviews, and my own experience as a parent and dog owner, everything I do is focused on giving Rugby families a calm experience and portraits they’ll genuinely love living with every day.

Now is the right time to book your family photoshoot
Family life doesn’t pause. The expressions you love, the laughter, the way everyone fits together right now all change more quickly than we expect. It’s often only later that families realise they wish they’d captured this stage properly while it still felt like everyday life.
Booking your family photoshoot sooner means you get to enjoy those moments sooner, not tucked away on a phone, but displayed in your home as beautiful wall art. Images that quietly make you smile, remind you what matters most, and become part of your family’s story every single day.
Because we photograph a limited number of families, availability is always finite. If you’ve been thinking about booking “one day”, this is your sign to do it while this moment still feels like now and turn today’s memories into artwork you’ll love living with for years to come.

Rugby family portraits at John Jenkins Photography Studio
At John Jenkins Photography, we believe that a truly unforgettable family photoshoot in Rugby is about more than just capturing smiles — it’s about creating real moments and lasting memories in a setting where you and your family feel completely at ease.
Whether it’s your children’s first studio experience, a milestone moment, or simply a beautiful way to celebrate your family as it is right now, our experience is designed to be relaxed, personal, and joyful from start to finish.
Two outfit changes
Two background changes (including our dramatic black backdrop)
We begin with a fun and engaging session, perfect for younger kids and families who want to ease into the experience. We play games, chat, and keep things flowing naturally, so you can relax and just enjoy being together.
Then we transition to a more focused and emotional session using a rich dark background. These are the portraits that truly stop people in their tracks, powerful, expressive, and timeless.
Just a few days after your shoot, you’ll return to the studio for a cinematic viewing session. This is when you’ll come back to the studio for a personal viewing, where we’ll help you choose your favourite images.
Your photographs are professionally edited and presented in an HD movie format projected onto our big screen. It’s an emotional and joyful moment for families to see their images brought to life, often with laughter, sometimes with tears.
From there, you can select your favourite images and choose from:
Elegant classic frames
Contemporary wall art and canvases
Stunning albums
Flexible digital formats
From handcrafted wall art to framed prints and albums, everything we offer is designed to complement your home and style. There’s no pressure, just honest guidance and space to decide what you truly love.
At larger Rugby photo studios, you never know who will be photographing your session. But at John Jenkins Photography, every image on our website was taken by John and he’ll be the one photographing your family too.
You can trust that you’re getting the quality, warmth, and professionalism you see in our portfolio, no surprises, no hand-offs, no compromise.
Other studios may offer flashy deals or fast-paced shoots with limited time and less personalisation. We don’t do rushed. We take time to get to know your family and deliver a one-to-one service that makes the whole experience enjoyable and memorable.
Have a four-legged family member? We love dogs and we’re one of the few family photography studios in the Rugby area that specializes in both family and dog photography. You’re welcome to include your dog as part of the session.
At John Jenkins Photography, we do things differently. We’re not part of a big chain or a high-street photo factory. We’re a local, independent studio where every session is personal and every photograph is taken by me, John Jenkins.
When you book a photoshoot here, you’re not passed from one photographer to another. You get the same experienced professional (that’s me!) behind the camera every time. In fact, every image you see on this website is one I’ve taken.
You’ll have the studio all to yourselves—no back-to-back bookings, no distractions, and no rushing. Just a calm, relaxed space where you and your family can be yourselves.
And when it comes to choosing your images, there’s no pushy sales pitch. Just beautiful, genuine portraits and simple packages that let you pick what you truly love.
